With the foundation of their surgical training in general surgery and fellowships focused on laparoscopic surgery, the surgeons at the New Jersey Bariatric Center actively perform a variety of laparoscopic general surgery procedures including appendix, colon, endocrine, GERD [acid reflux], hernia repair and cholecystectomy [gall bladder]. They are also on the forefront of general surgery techniques through their use of laparoscopic single incision procedures, where the surgeons reduce the operative site to a single small incision around the belly button compared to traditional laparoscopic surgery requiring four or five small incisions. Single incision procedures frequently result in less post-operative pain, less scar tissue and a faster recovery to normal activity.
